McDonald’s announced Friday that it’s bringing back the beloved McRib - a sandwich highly anticipated by fans all year.
What’s even bigger this year, the announcement said, is that not only is the fast-food chain bringing the fan-favorite back to its menu offerings in 2020 - McDonald’s is taking it nationwide for the first time since 2012 - beginning Dec. 2.
For those who’ve never had the opportunity to try it, McDonald’s offers this tempting description of the “saucy, tangy, tender and shamelessly delicious” McRib: It’s a tantalizing combination of “seasoned boneless pork slathered in smoky, tangy barbecue sauce, topped with slivered onions and tart pickles,” the announcement said.
“The McRib has been a beloved menu item at McDonald’s since its inception nearly 40 years ago,” Vice President of Menu Innovation, Linda VanGosen, said in the announcement. “There’s nothing quite like the taste of the McRib. To our customers, it’s become more than a delicious, saucy moment… it’s a season, and it’s taking the internet by storm. That’s why this year, we’re proud to serve the McRib nationwide for everyone to enjoy,” VanGosen added.
The announcement noted that the McRib debuted nationally at McDonald’s in 1982, and now today, “it’s one of the most anticipated, limited-time menu items offered around the world.” Though Germany has access to the McRib year-round.
